Borrow the bike. Win the race. Collect the cash. It should’ve been an easy job. Ran out of town with a broken leg and a lawsuit, my mother’s latest flame swoops in like a knight in gilded armor. Blackwood Keep is a place I don’t belong, and I’m not the only one who knows. To the boy across the hall, my savior’s only son, I’m a stray looking for a bone.

He’s lord of the manor.
King of the academy.
And number one on my shit list.

I have no intentions of becoming a happy family with the social climber and her wild daughter. A bottle of Jameson and a cracked skull gets my problem shipped to reform school, but I didn’t bank on her returning.

Four’s out to get even, and she almost had the perfect plan: expose the privileged kid moonlighting as a gangbanger. She’s smart, but she’ll have to be smarter. Sending her away won’t be good enough this time. I’m going to have to tame the little troublemaker. To the girl across the hall, the one without a name, I’m nothing without my silver spoon.

She’s lady of the trailer park.
Queen of the swamps.
And my new favorite pastime.

Four was a girl who was born in poverty yet was fearless and love to race. She grew up with her mom who is complicated through most part of story. In the opening chapter of the book we see Four riding a bike at a race and then an accident happen which forced her mom to move Four to her new lover’s house, where Four met with Ever, the son of the Four’s soon to be step father. It was an instant love/hate relationship between both of them. Have you read this story before??

This is the most reoccurring theme for most of the Young Adult High School novels. And I can count some of these on my fingertips. Now don’t get me wrong,I love a good romance novel with a good love/hate relationship between the leading character. But the thing that is most annoying for me was how messy this story was, I was reading and all of the sudden Four was in boarding school. I mean what?? when?? How??. And as soon as she was back we were introduced with Ever’s cousin with no background whatsoever.

The Plot was very weak mainly riding on Four and Ever’s sexual tension. There are also certain factors in the book that made me think that is this really the case with the youth of USA? For instance, What is a 17 year old boy (who is super rich) doing in a gang??? I mean why?? Was this really necessary for the angsty plot of the story ?

Don’t get me wrong. Ever can totally join a gang but what about a backstory. Also I do get that Four and Ever have a lot of sexual tension and chemistry but that doesn’t mean that Ever needs to be a possessive, controlling alpha male. Like a mini version on Mr. Christian Grey

Anyways, TBH I don’t think this was necessary. Ever’s personality completely ruined the book for me. All in all it was a 2.5 star read for me on average.Because there were literally parts in the book where I was completely lost. But the story behind Four’s name made me really sad.

Have you read this book?? If yes, What are your reviews?
